What Happened
Scammers are pretending to be tech support from trusted companies like banks, utility providers, or even Microsoft. They reach out through phone calls, texts, or pop-up windows claiming your device or account has a problem.
The message gives you a phone number that connects you directly to the scammer. From there, they pressure you to:
Give them remote access to your computer, and
Pay fees for fake or unnecessary “repairs.”
How to Protect Yourself
🚫 Never give remote access to your computer to someone who calls unexpectedly.
📞 Hang up immediately and call the real company using its official website or billing statement.
🖥️ Be suspicious of pop-up alerts that claim your computer has problems.
💵 Don’t pay fees for repairs unless you requested the service from a trusted provider.
Call to Action
Think of your computer like your home—would you hand a stranger your house keys just because they knocked on the door? Protect your “digital house” by refusing to give scammers access.
👉 Your Daily Workout
Hang Up.
Verify.
Protect.
Repeat this every time you face a suspicious call, pop-up, or text.
